Entropy Notes
From enfascination
Don't confound order and low entropy. It is so easy to do, even when I know better. The equilibrium state of a closed system has the highest entropy. For two chambers of air in thermal contact, the non equilibrium macro state has lower entropy than the equilibrium macro state, but would it be meaningful to say it has more order?
The entropy of a macrostate is directly (logarithmically) related to the number of microstates that correspond to that macrostate.
