“It was found that pairing abstract art pieces with randomly generated pseudoprofound titles enhanced the perception of profoundness”

I was following up on the lit around Bullshit Receptivity (or “BSR”; http://journal.sjdm.org/vol10.6.html) and stumbled on this master’s thesis using it to evaluate modern art perceptions. Title quote is from the abstract
https://uwspace.uwaterloo.ca/handle/10012/13746
(Can’t vouch for the research though; didn’t actually read the thesis).

As someone who always cringes reading artist statements, and whose English-degree-holding proud pedantic jerk wife failed critical theory twice out of spite, this was pretty gratifying.

Just one comment from the pedantic jerk: “Did they mean profundity?”
