This article was completely over my head, recommended by Ben Allen, but little bits did get through to me. It was a mathematical argument for, as it says, the role of sex in evolution, an extension of some informal theoretical work by Crow and Kimura " who suggested briefly, based on intuition, that sex favored "good mixers""
