A detailed (and old) reviews, largely historical of the science of fisheries management and the broader economic implications of work on them. I was surprised at how many times, even in the fifties, that sentiment has swung, completely, between the two extremes of management and non-management. The tendency of people opposed to management doesn't tend to be anything related to markets, but always focuses on thee gross ineffectiveness of any management on maintaining populations and yields. I'm curious where the field is now.
